Hidden Gem in The World’s Top Tourist Destination
Finding restaurants or businesses that cater to food allergies or special diets is **the** most difficult. Generally, I avoid all restaurants and bakeries because of the drama that comes with talking to the chef, interactions with waitstaff or hosts that find your questions difficult or less than serious, or management that ask “why eat out if you have all of these concerns?”. While sheepishly I understand where they’re coming from- but sensitive patients deserve the same opportunity and respect to enjoy meals outside of their homes from time to time. And while not every restaurant accommodate (and we celebrate restaurants and businesses that are transparent in saying they can’t when they’re unable to), it’s always a relief to find one that can.
Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Disney Springs (Lake Buena Vista / Orlando, Florida) is the answer to all of your allergen related travel concerns in the world’s top tourist destination (as of 2018).
This bakery offers sweet treats that are gluten free, vegan, and kosher friendly. They mention that if you have questions outside of that, to ask to speak to a supervisor and they can provide an allergen book where every ingredient in every item is listed.

In my experience, they were also FD&C dye free, tree nut free, and peanut free! They do use coconuts, so depending on where you’re from or your own personal nut sensitivities, be sure to ask what recipes do not include those ingredients if that’s a trigger for you.
They carried 1-2 savory items as well, but they mainly focused on everything sugary and sweet. Their supervisor shared that they are free of refined sugars and only currently use raw cane sugar or organic agave nectar (absolutely LOVE THAT).

When checking out, they shared they also just started shipping and offered a $20 off coupon for the first order shipped through gold belly. While the menu for shipping is slightly different than what is available in their Disney location, because it ships from LA, they shared they can also ship custom orders! Birthdays, anniversaries, Halloween, or even just cuz? Omg. (That’s a HUGE win for the food allergy community!!)
